Product Support & Test Engineer – Semiconductor Equipment (m/f/d)

Bochum
Full-time
Permanent employee

Your mission

You test our tools in production before they ship, find the root cause when something doesn't work, and make sure engineering learns from it. Because you know the machine by heart and you are also the expert we send to customers when a problem goes beyond what field service can solve. You report to the Head of Manufacturing and work closely with engineering, applications and our service team.

Your responsibilities

Testing in production
  • Run test procedures on each tool through the build: hardware tests, software commissioning and process tests on test wafers
  • Prepare and carry out factory acceptance tests (FAT), including with customers present
Diagnosis and feedback to engineering
  • Analyse failures systematically across all subsystems and find their root causes
  • Report issues to engineering in a structured way, work with them on solutions and verify fixes on the tool
  • Bring a tester's view into new designs: testability, diagnostics and serviceability
Customer support in the field
  • Act as second-level support for our service engineers and customers, remotely and on site.
  • Diagnose complex production issues at customer sites using machine logs, data and hands-on investigation.
  • Support installations and site acceptance tests at customers.
  • Build up troubleshooting guides and train service engineers and partners.

Your profile

  • Degree in engineering or physics (e.g. mechatronics, electrical engineering, laser/optical technology) or a technician qualification with relevant professional experience
  • Several years of experience in testing, commissioning or field support of complex machines
  • A systematic approach to troubleshooting across various disciplines (mechanics, electrics, software etc)
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and fluid diagrams (P&ID); experience with PLC systems (ideally Beckhoff TwinCAT) and log analysis is a plus
  • Understanding of semiconductor processes
  • Confident in dealing with customers, also in difficult situations
  • Good English and German skills
  • Willingness to travel to customers
